PREVENTIVE MEASURES.
On the receipt of a notification of Infectious Disease, the
case is visited and full particulars obtained. I am always glad
to see any doubtful case of Infectious Disease in consultation
with the Doctor in charge; and I have pleasure in placing on
record the cordial co-operation I have received from all medical
practitioners in this respect.
This is, I feel sure, of great assistance in dealing with the
incidence of Infectious Disease.
Where any outbreak of Infectious Disease arises in
Connection with the scholars attending any school, whether a
private school or a public elementary or secondary school,
particular attention is given to any possible factors which may
be tending to cause the spread of the disease.
Post convalescent cases after return from Hospital are
visited, and should circumstances arise rendering it advisable,
are kept under further observation.
Diphtheria Anti-toxin.—A supply of Diphtheria Anti-toxin
is kept for the use of Doctors practising in the District.
This is supplied free of charge on the certificate of the
Medical Officer of Health that the circumstances of the case
render this desirable. In other cases the cost price is charged.
Isolation Hospital.—The District is served by the Bromley
and Beckenham Joint Isolation Hospital.
This Hospital, administered by the Bromley and Beckenham
Joint Hospital Board, serves the Borough of Bromley,
the Urban Districts of Beckenham, Chislehurst and Sidcup,
and the Rural District of Bromley.
Cases are removed by the Board's motor ambulances.
Disinfection.—The Council have a fully equipped Thresh's
Disinfecting Apparatus available for the disinfection of
bedding, clothing, etc., and in addition, rooms are fumigated
and sprayed after cases of Infectious Disease; and also after
cases of non-notifiable disease at the request of a medical
practitioner.
