Cases attended by Midwife.
Nurse E. G. Smith is the County Council Midwife for Northwood
and Harefield and attended 25 confinements as Midwife and 4 as
Maternity Nurse during the year.
Nurse R. J. Carter and Nurse R. E. Temple were appointed as
County Council Midwives under the Midwives Act 1936 and commenced
duty on 1st October, 1937. During the period from 1st October to 31st
December, 1937, Nurse Carter attended 5 confinements as Midwife
and 3 as Maternity Nurse. Both these midwives and Nurse
E. G. Smith who acts as relief midwife only in the Ruislip Northwood
area, attend the Maternity and Child Welfare Centres in the Ruislip
Northwood District.
Nurse R. E. Temple was not resident in Northwood until
January, 1938, but during the period from 1st October to 31st December
was engaged in relief duties in Northwood and other areas.
The County Council's Health Visitors attend the following Welfare
Centres:
Northwood: Miss M. C. Brimacombe and Miss N. Smith.
Eastcote: Miss K. Martin.
Ruislip: Miss M. E. Hurst.
Ruislip Manor: Miss N. M. Cooper and Miss M. E. Hurst.
South Ruislip: Miss C. F. Whitbread.
