HOUSING—CLEARANCE OF UNFIT HOUSES
The Medical Officer of Health made representations in respect of 23
dwellings during the year.
During the year the inspection of dwellings in the Groves Area of the
district was commenced. The action necessary as a result of this inspection will
be published in the report for 1960, since the survey of the area is continuing.
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
The supervision of premises and stalls where foods are prepared, stored
or exposed for sale has been regularly carried out, 1,778 visits being made in
this connection.

Regular inspections of food premises have been carried out.
Legal proceedings were taken against one trader for smoking whilst serving
open food. The defendant was fined £1.
