Dysentery.
One case was notified, a child aged 1¼ years, whilst an inmate of a hospital
in another district, where she undoubtedly contracted the disease.
Poliomyelitis.
Four cases in all were notified during the year. Three of these were paralytic
and one non-paralytic. Two of the former and the latter made a speedy recovery
and the third paralytic case was still in hospital at the end of the year.
Meningococcal Infection.
A girl, aged 2¾ years, was notified and removed to hospital.
Measles.
Most of the 390 cases were notified between May and August, 154 being in
June.
Whooping Cough.
Cases were notified throughout the year and totalled 204, compared with
116 in 1949.
