PUBLIC CONVENIENCES
The Local Authority eight public conveniences are situated in Orpington
Town (3), Petts Wood (1), St. Mary Cray (1), Green Street Green (l), Farnborough (l)
and Biggin Hill (1)
Wilful damage and misuse continues to be a problem but the system of
inspection and cleansing undertaken during the hours of opening by a mobile cleaner
appears to be working well as only one complaint was received during the year.
The opening and initial cleaning in the morning and closing at night is
undertaken by ten part-time employees.
Maintenance and repair work is carried out by the Housing and Estates Department
RAG, FLOCK AND OTHER FILLING MATERIALS ACT 1951
This Act is designed to secure the use of clean filling materials in
upholstered articles and other articles which are stuffed or lined, or for
purposes connected therewith,,
No contraventions were found under this Act during 1964
RIVERS, STREAKS AND LAKES
Since 1950, the Kent Rivers Board has been responsible for the supervision of
the two rivers in this area, i.e. the Cray and the kydbrook
