Scarlet Fever.
Twenty-two cases were notified during the year, two being
admitted to hospital and the remainder being home-nursed.
No deaths from this disease were recorded and there were no
"return" cases.
Smallpox and Vaccination.
No cases of smallpox occurred in the area, but it was necessary
to keep four contacts under surveillance for the requisite period.
Eight hundred and twenty-two International Certificates of
Vaccination were brought into the Public Health Department for the
doctors' signatures to be authenticated during 1963.
The County Medical Officer informs me that 312 children in the
area received primary vaccination and 8 (school age but under 8
years) re-vaccination during 1963.
