Maternal Mortality.
I am pleased to report that there were no maternal deaths in the
area during 1963.
Deaths.
787 deaths appertaining to the Urban District were registered
during the year, giving a death rate of 9.6 per 1,000 total population.
The adjusted rate for use when comparing one area with another is
10.8.
The rate for England and Wales as a whole was 12.2.
Of the Orpington deaths registered, 423 were males and 364
females.
The average death rate for the area during the past ten years was
9.3.
