The following report has been furnished by the Honorary
Secretary:—
"We have spent more money this year than any previous year
in helping patients.
Three families have been given holidays, four families helped
with Grammar School outfits for their children. A debt owing by
one family had been half re-paid—the Committee paid the
remainder. A family has been helped with furnishing a new home,
and fares paid for patients visiting relatives. Grants have been
made towards weekly grocery and milk bills, and second-hand
clothing distributed. Flowers and knitted garments made by members
of the Committee were given to hospital patients at Christmas
time, in addition to more than fifty parcels of grocery, toys, etc.,
which were distributed to patients."
Typhoid and Para-Typhoid Fever.
Ono case of Para-typhoid Fever occurred during the year and
was admitted to Hospital for treatment.
Whooping Cough.
Two hundred and twenty-seven notifications were received
which was an increase of 22, compared with the previous year.
Only 5 of these cases were admitted to hospital and once again we
are facing a problem of apparently declining virulence.
