SECTION D.
HOUSING.
Housing Repairs and Rents Act, 1954.
If the number of applications from tenants for Certificates of
Disrepair is any indication, it would appear that landlords generally
are not claiming a repairs increase on the rent of their properties as
provided in the above Act. The total number of certificates applied
for since this Act came into force is fourteen.
The number of certificates dealt with in the year under review
was as follows:—
No. of applications for certificates received 5
No. of applications for certificates granted 3
No. of applications for certificates refused 2
No. of certificates revoked 1
Clearance Areas. Housing Acts, 1936-1949.
In November, representation was made to the Council for the
clearance of three areas comprising a total of forty-one properties.
Moveable Dwellings.
During the year, three licences were renewed embracing a total
of eighty-six caravans and forty tents. For the winter months, three
licences, covering a total of fifty-three caravans, were also issued.
In all, seventy-three visits of inspection to the various sites were
made by the Sanitary Inspectors.
The matter is now largely dealt with by Town Planning.
