Slaughterhouses
The Sanitary Inspectors made ninety-nine visits to
the nine slaughterhouses which remain on the register of
the Local Authority. Seventeen slaughtermen's licences
were issued under the Slaughter of Animals Act. 1933.
Under present Pood Control Regulations, very little slaughtering of animals is carried out locally and the following table is self-explanatory: -

Butchers' Shops
One hundred and seventy-seven detailed inspections
were made at the forty retail butchers5 shop sin the area
In no case during the year was there any evidence of
sound meat being exposed for sale.
Bakehouses
Generally speaking, the standard of the twenty-one
premises was good. Sixty-five complete inspections were
made and notices issued for cleansing and repairs in three
premises.
Milk
As stated in my last report, the sale of un-designated milk in this area is now illegal. Licences were issued in respect of the sale of milk having a special designation as follows: =
