Inspection of Food Premises.
During the year these premises were subject to routine
inspection, and a total of 2,198 visits was made, as shown in
Appendix 1.
MEAT INSPECTION.
Slaughterhouses.
There are 10 licensed slaughterhouses in the district, to which
the Meat Inspectors made 83 visits. The following is a summary
of the carcases inspected. Under Food Control regulations the
slaughtering of animals other than pigs is carried out centrally.

Butchers' Shops.
There are 40 retail butchers' shops, and in no case was there
unsound meat exposed for sale ; 278 inspections were made.
