ZYMOTIC DEATH RATE.
The Zymotic Death Kate is a term commonly applied to the
rate of deaths from the seven principal zymotic complaints,
viz., Small Pox, Measles, Scarlet Fever, Diphtheria, Whooping
Cough, Diarrhoea and "Fever," which latter includes Typhus,
Typhoid (or Enteric) and Paratyphoid Fevers.
During the year 11 deaths occurred from these complaints,
the Zymotic Death Kate being 0.25 per thousand of population.
PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS.
The deaths occurring from Pulmonary Tuberculosis (Consumption
or Phthisis) numbered 19. This is equal to a Death
Rate of 0.43 per thousand of population,
OTHER RESPIRATORY DISEASES.
The deaths from other diseases of the respiratory system
numbered 37. This gives a Death Rate of 0.84 per thousand
of population.
CANCER.
The deaths from Cancer (malignant disease) were 50 (22
males and 28 females). The Death Rate from Cancer was,
therefore, 1.14 per thousand of population.
