PUBLIC MORTUARY.
The arrangement entered into between the Council and the
Hospital Management Committee (Leytonstone No. 10 Hospital
Group) in September, 1949, for the provision of public mortuary
facilities at Whipps Cross Hospital mortuary has continued during
the year.
Number of bodies deposited, death being due to:—
Natural causes 58
Suicide 7
Accidents 6
71
Number of Post-mortem examinations performed 70
Number of Inquests held 14
In 56 instances no inquest was considered necessary in view
of the post-mortem findings that death was due to natural causes.
The causes of death in these cases were certified as follows:—
