Of the three factors (infection, irritation and injury) which
have been quoted as possible exciting causes, none was found
to be operative in a percentage of cases sufficiently large as to
justify its being regarded as causative.
PROVISION OF MEALS.
The provision of meals to children attending the elementary
schools is undertaken by the Education Authority under powers
granted by Sections 82-85 of the Education Act, 1921.
The average number of children fed per week during the past five years:—
