There was a most marked decrease from the figures of 1904
in the Infantile Mortality of the District, as the following
Table shows:—

In this, my Twentieth Annual Report, I have introduced
several new tables of figures for the better elucidation of results,
and this has necessitated the re-numbering of the whole series
of Tables.
POPULATION.
Estimated population at the rate of 5 residents in every house,
105000. There is again a marked decrease in the number of
houses erected and certified fit for habitation from 749 in 1904 to
496 in 1905.
