Attack Rates represent the number of cases occurring to
every 1,000 persons living at all ages. These rates are useful
for comparison with other Boroughs in regard to the incidence of
infectious diseases. (See Table 23).
The attack rate from all infectious diseases (excluding
Puerperal Fever) during the year amounted to 7.41 per 1,000
of the population, compared with 6.45 in 1907, and 6.08 in
1906. This increase is due to a rise in the attack rate from
Diphtheria as will be seen in Table 22. The attack rate for the
County of London was 7.36, compared with 8.61 in 1907.

22. It will be seen that {South Ward, Lee, had the largest
