Legal Proceedings.
(a) Public Health Act, 1936.
Twenty summonses were taken out for failure to comply with
Abatement Notices. In 17 instances the requirements of the Notice
were carried out before the hearing took place and the summonses
were withdrawn on payment of costs. The other three summonses
related to infringements of the byelaws relating to piggeries. One
summons was dismissed, and fines of £2. and £1. respectively
imposed in the other cases. The use of the piggery was subsequently
discontinued.
Notices served on a property owner to supply dustbins to four
houses resulted in his appealing to the Magistrates against the
Notices. In each case the appeal was allowed.
[b) Food and Drugs Act. 1938,
A summons under Section 13 was taken out for failure to
provide an adequate supply of hot water in a confectioners' shop.
A suitable geyser was installed before the hearing took place and
the summons was withdrawn on payment of costs.
