(6) Meat.
Meat inspection is carried out by the Sanitary Inspectors,
who have made 739 visits of inspection to the slaughter
houses, when a total of 6,499 carcases were examined, made
up of 166 cattle, 228 calves, 402 sheep and 5,703 pigs. One
and a half tons of meat were condemned from 138 carcases,
viz., 2 cattle, 136 pigs.
No notification of intended slaughter under the Tuberculosis
Order of 1925 was received.
No system of marking inspected carcases has been adopted.
(c) Adulteration, Etc.
Through the courtesy of Dr. J. Tate, County Medical
Officer, I have received the following return of work done
during the year by the County Council Inspectors under the
Sale of Food and Drugs Acts in this district.

No prosecutions were instituted during the year.
SECTION F.
PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER
INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
General.
There was no outstanding epidemic of infectious disease
during the year.
Swabs for the examination of throat and nose discharges
were supplied gratis to medical practitioners to assist them
in the diagnosis of diphtheria, and antitoxin was also provided
free.
