School intimations of disease were of value as it was
found that in some cases the parents did not trouble to call
in a doctor for their sick children.
Swabs for the examination of throat and nose discharges
were supplied gratis to medical practitioners to assist them
in the diagnosis of diphtheria, and antitoxin was also
provided free.
