SECTION F.—INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION
OF FOOD SUPPLY.
F(l).Cowsheds, Dairies and Milk Stores.
The current register of cowsheds, dairies and milk stores
records the following registration figures :
No. of registered farms and cowsheds 8
No. of dairies 11
Shops selling milk in sealed receptacles 40
No. of registered purveyors outside Borough 19
F(2).Bacteriological examination of milk.
Seven samples of Pasteurised milk were obtained and
submitted to the County Bacteriologist for examination, and
all were reported upon as being satisfactory.
F(3). Sampling of milk for Tubercle Bacilli.
Routine sampling of bulk milk resulted in the Tubercle
Bacilli being isolated in one instance in consequence of which
3 cows were rejected, slaughtered and disposed of as provided
for by the Tuberculosis Order 1938.
F(4).Milk Supply.
The following table indicates the number of licences issued by the Local Authority under the Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1936 :

F(5).Slaughter of Animals Act 1933.
The above Act makes the use of mechanically operated
instruments a statutory obligation. By resolution of the Council
dated 23rd May, 1938, the provisions of Section I of the Act
apply to sheep which are slaughtered in this district.
