E(11) e. Cleansing of Verminous Persons.
The Scabies Order 1941 necessitates the provision of a
cleansing station wherein verminous persons may be cleansed
promptly and thoroughly. With this end in view, a structure
is to be erected at the Borough Infectious Disease Hospital.
Clothing is dealt with at the Disinfector.
Prior to the provision of the above cleansing station,
persons requiring treatment could obtain it by agreement with
the Dartford Hospital.
E(11) f. Swimming Baths and Pools.
The Council's open air swimming bath is situated in Walnut
Tree Road, and comprises one swimming pool of 70,000 gallons
capacity. There is a slipper establishment with accommodation
for 16 males, and 4 females. Water in the open air pool is
warmed to a temperature of 70 deg. F. by low pressure steam
heating and is sterilised by the Chloramine process, i.e.
addition of ammonia in conjunction with cthlorine.
E (11 ) g. Mortuary.
The Borough Mortuary is situated at the rear of the Erith
Parish Church in West Street, and consists of a receiving room
and viewing room. There is accommodation for 4 bodies.
During 1941, 42 bodies were placed in the building.
E (11) h. Schools.
Schools within the district were regularly visited by the
Sanitary Inspectors, and defects if any, are referred to the
Education Committee. All the premises are served by the
Metropolitan Water Board's supply.
