The total tonnage dealt with during the year, as shown
above was 9,764 tons 15 cwts., this is an increase of 602 tons
17 cwt. over that of last year.
E (2). Trade Refuse.
Trade Refuse is collected from the shops by arrangement
with the shopkeepers, an agreed charge being made, or it is
brought to the wharf by the traders themselves.
The growth of this section of the refuse disposal services
has been rapid, when it is remembered that 8 years ago appr'ox.
116 tons were disposed of while in 1939 the amount reached
approx. 383 tons.
