SECTION B.—MATERNITY AND CHILD
WELFARE SERVICES.
B(l). Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme.
The Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme provides the
following services :
1. Ante-natal clinic—one session per week at Hainault.
one session per week at Bedonwell.
2. Provision of an Obstetric Consultant for difficulties and
emergencies arising during pregnancy and labour. -
3. Hospital provision for cases of Puerperal Pyrexia and
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
4. The facilities for the provision of Free Milk for
expectant, and nursing mothers.
5. Provision for dental treatment of children under
school age and nursing and pregnant women at a session held
fortnightly at the School Dental Clinic.
6. Four Infant Welfare Centres holding fourteen sessions
per month.
7. Provision for Orthopaedic treatment for children under
school age.
The School Medical Service facilities are available to
children under five years of age. Infants and toddlers with
eye defects are seen by the School Ophthalmic Surgeon; with
orthopaedic defects are seen by the Orthopaedic Surgeon, and
certain cases with minor ailments in need of regular treatment
secure this at the School Minor Ailment Clinic.
