8.
I am pleased once more to record the happy relations
existing between the staff of the Royal Waterloo Hospital for
Children and Women and ourselves, with regard to operative
treatment.
Ear Diseases and Defective Hearing.
Reference to Table IV will show that 144 defects were
treated during the year.
Dental Defects.
The Dental Scheme was again extended during the year,
to 8 sessions per week.
Reference to Table V will show among various other interesting
facts that there was a considerable increase in the
number of fillings done during the year. It will be seen also
that 2,135 received dental inspection during the year, and of
this number 1,525 children or approximately 70 per cent. were
found to require treatment. Taking our school population as
five thousand—actually there are 5,125 children on the rolls of
the Elementary Schools—this means that three thousand children
did not receive dental inspection and 70 per cent. of this
figure in need of dental treatment did not receive it.

The following table has again been brought up to date:

Year.No. of fillings.
