(a) During 1937 premises infested with vermin were inspected
as under:
Council Houses 15
Others 34
(b) In the case of Council Houses each of the premises
found to be infested were disinfested by the Local Authority
by using Solution 'B' or Cimex Fumigating Blocks. Where
complaints are received regarding other houses infested, an
inspection is made by the Inspector who afterwards communicates
with, or interviews the owner, and advises the removal of
the woodwork, wallpaper, etc., and spraying, or fumigation, as
may be indicated.
(c) Where the belongings of tenants for removal to Council
Houses are suspected of being infested, Cyanide Fumigation of
furniture and effects is undertaken under the supervision of
this Department—by contractors—before rehousing takes place.
(d) In all cases where treatment for the eradication of bed
bugs has been undertaken, and bearing in mind that the complete
banishment of such vermin from the infected house can
only be successfully undertaken with the co-operation of the
tenant, follow up visits are made with a view to the giving of
advice, if same appears necessary.
