Above is a flat in which the caretaker lives, with which
the clinic staff can communicate by telephone.
Attractive Exterior.
The Clinic block is designed in the modern style where
horizontal bands of blue and red brick are blended with the
white lines of concrete lintels and flats. The windows are
horizontal in type in the design of their panes, so that the whole
is in keeping with modern simplicity and utility.
The cost of the clinic was <£'2,184 and of the equipment
£310.
SECTION B.—MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE
SERVICES.
B(l). Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme.
The Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme is comparatively
a complete one, and provides the following services :
1. Ante-natal clinic—one session per week at Hainault.
one session per week at Bedonwell.
2. Provision of an Obstetric Consultant for difficulties and
emergencies arising during pregnancy and labour.
3. Hospital provision for cases of Puerperal Pyrexia and
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
4. The facilities for the provision of Free Milk for necessitous
expectant, and nursing mothers were extended during the
year in accordance with the suggestions contained in Circular
1519, to include the whole period of pregnancy.
5. Provision for dental treatment of children under school
age and nursing and pregnant women at a session held fortnightly
at the School Dental Clinic.
6. Four Infant Welfare Centres holding fourteen sessions
per month.
7. Provision for Orthopaedic treatment for children under
school age.
