A sample of the meal was sent for examination, specimens of
faeces were taken from those complaining of symptoms, and, in
addition, the canteen staff were examined and swabs taken from
their noses, throats, and hands.
The only significant feature found during these investigations
was the presence in a portion of the meal of an organism not usually
associated with food poisoning.
The method of cooking and storing and the standard of cleanliness
in this canteen appeared satisfactory, although certain minor
recommendations were made to the Management during my visits.
