THE MILK (SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS) (RAW MILK) AND
(PASTEURISED AND STERILISED MILK) REGULATIONS, 1949.
These Regulations came into force on the 1st October, 1949,
and for the first time it became necessary to licence all dealers
selling Sterilised Milk.
At the end of the year the following licences were in operation :

During the year samples of Milk were taken and tested ;
all were found to be satisfactory.
PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFECTIOUS
AND OTHER DISEASES
The number of cases of Scarlet Fever was 175, compared with
124 in 1948,
of Diphtheria nil, as compared with 3;
of Pulmonary Tuberculosis 132, as compared with 147;
and
of Pneumonia 85, as compared with 61.
There were no deaths from Scarlet Fever during the year, as
was also the case in 1948.
