WATER SUPPLY
The District of Enfield is supplied with water by the Metropolitan
Water Board, except for part of the Hadley Wood and
Cockfosters area, which is supplied by the Barnet District Gas and
Water Company.
Both of these Authorities take regular and frequent samples
for analysis. Copies of these reports are sent to the Health Department,
and have shown satisfactory results.
There was no cause to suspect any contamination during the
year and no complaints were received as to the quality and quantity
of water supplied by the above-mentioned undertakings.
There are four dwellings in Enfield which receive their water
supply other than from a public company; these are under constant
supervision.
There are no houses in the district which receive their water
supplies by means of standpipes.
The question of well-water supplies, both in connection with
dwelling-houses and industrial premises, throughout the district has
received the careful attention of the Department during the year,
and every care has ben exercised to see that such supplies are not
used for drinking purposes where mains water supply is available.
81 visits were made by the Sanitary Inspectors during the year in
connection with wells, and 9 samples were taken and submitted for
bacteriological examination.
The results of the analyses were as follows:—
