DEATHS.
Of the 962 deaths of Enfield residents during the course of
the year 162 were due to malignant disease : 230 to heart disease :
64 to pneumonia (all forms), and 51 to tuberculosis of the respiratory
system.
INFANT MORTALITY.
Of the 53 infants who died before attaining the age of one year,
20 died within the first week of life. In 9 cases death was due to
pneumonia : in 6 to congenital malformation : in 12 to premature
birth, and in 3 to Atrophy, Debility and Marasmus.
INQUESTS.
Seventy-five inquests and fifty-«ix P.M's. without inquests
were held in Enf.eld during the year. Out of these, 61 deaths were
due to natural causes, 50 to accidental causes, 7 to suicide, 9 to
misadventure, 3 open verdict, and 1 acquital of manslaughter.
AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
For infectious Cases : 247 patients were removed from Enfield
during the year. 3,350 other patients were conveyed during the
year to local hospitals.
LABORATORY FACILITIES.

The following work was carried out in the Council's laboratory during the year.
