Eye Diseases and Defects.—Nineteen children were found
to be suffering from external eye disease. All were referred for
treatment to the minor ailment clinic. 296 cases of defective
vision were referred for treatment to the Ophthalmic Clinic or
hospital; 21 of these had squint.

The following is a comparative table for the last five years:—

For some time past I had been anxious to arrange for special
treatment for children suffering from squint. During the course
of the year many of the children were referred for treatment to the
Western Ophthalmic Hospital and all these children were admitted
and operated upon. For these services no fee was charged to the
Education Committee by the hospital. Early in 1934 arrangements
have been made whereby for a sum of ten guineas per annum
the hospital will accept all patients referred by the School Ophthalmic
Surgeon either for admission or out-patient treatment;
arrangements have also been made for the payment of fares to
and from the hospital.
Tuberculosis.—One case of active tuberculous glands was
found.
