Petroleum (Regulations) Acts, 1928 and 1936.
During the year 14 new licences and 110 renewals were granted by
the Council.
The following is a list of particulars of quantities, etc., affected by
these licences:—
Petroleum spirit 348,300 gallons.
Petroleum mixtures 5,495 ,,
Carbide of calcium 1 ton 9 cwts. 19 lbs.
The figures for petroleum spirit and mixtures again show an increase
over those of last year.
Mortuary.
During the year 83 bodies were deposited in the Mortuary, 70 by order
of the Coroner, and 13 for sanitary reasons.
Canal Boats Acts.
During the year 33 visits were paid to the canal and 15 boats were seen,
but of this number, none were fitted or used as dwellings or registered
under the Acts.
Places of Public Entertainment.
Forty-two inspections of cinemas and other places of entertainment were
made in accordance with the Circular of the Ministry of Health of 1920.
Conditions were found to be generally satisfactory.
Nuisances.
There were no summonses taken out against persons failing to comply
with Notices served under the Nuisance Sections of the Public Health Acts.

The following work has been carried out under the Factory and Workshop
