In both periods the cost of service at centres or cook-shops was 1d. per
head.
It will be seen that since the war began, there has been an increased call
for the service of free dinners to needy children.
The number of dinners required reached its maximum in the middle of
September, since when there has been a steady falling off.
Intelligence.
The intelligence of the child was recorded by the Head Teacher in consultation
with the class teacher, the children being classed into seven grades.
The following table gives the percentage of children for the leaver group, the number in the ten year old group was too small to deal with:—
