Non-Notifiable Diseases.
Weekly returns are received from the head teachers of schools
giving the number of children absent with certain non-notifiable
diseases.
This report is necessarily incomplete since it only relates to
children of school age—but it does give an indication of the
prevalence of these conditions at different seasons and forms an
index of the prevalence of infectious disease from year to year.
These figures represent between one-half and one-third of
the true number of cases present in the Borough during the year.
