At the commencement the child consultations were
open on two afternoons a week but this was found to
be insufficient and another afternoon was arranged,
so that now the Centre is open for children on three
afternoons. This number of afternoons may have to
be extended in the near future, an average of twenty
children is too great a number for a doctor to see in an
afternoon of two and a half hours.
In connection with the work of the child consultations
the health visitors made 165 special visits either to
see that the treatment advised was being carried out
or to report on the progress of the children.
3. Operations and Treatment at the School Clinic.—
In all 31 children under 5 years of age were referred to
the School Clinic for treatment, 13 being for diseases
