Supply of Milk to Schools.
The practice of obtaining the views of the Local
Authority before milk is supplied to schools has been
continued. In all cases approval is only given when
the supply is efficiently pasteurised.
During the year 74 samples of milk were analysed; the following table shows the results, divided into those produced on a small scale and those distributed by large companies:—

In the year 1929, one sample in 3 1/3 was unsatisfactory,
whereas ill the year 1937, the proportion of unsatisfactory
samples was one in 6½.
(b) Meat and Other Foods.
Meat Inspection.
There arc four slaughter-houses in the district, one
licensed and three registered. To these a total of 772
visits was paid during the year. The carcases inspected
numbered 3,472.
