MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE.
Notification of Births.
1,670 notifications of live births were received during the
year (males 854, females 816).
422 notifications (including still births) were received from
medical practitioners and parents, and 1.277 from midwives
In addition, information was received of 137 births outside
this area.

corresponding figures for registration being 41, 22 and 19
