I have earlier referred to the waiting list for educationally subnormal
pupils. The 84 children referred to above include many severely handicapped
pupils and the building of a new school which had been allowed for in estimates
when the Health Department was responsible forthese children will
be put in hand soon after the end of the year.
During 1971 Mr. R.G. Grice, who had been Head Master of St. Christopher's
School since 1st September, 1959, and was an authority in this special field
of education, retired, and I am grateful to Mr. D.D. Abraham, his successor,
for the following report on the work of the school in 1971.

2. Staffing
Mr. R. Grice retired as Headmaster of the School during the year.
His successor, Mr. D.D. Abraham, took up duties in September.
The School is indebted to Mr. F. Hutt, the Deputy Headmaster, for
so effectively taking over the role of Acting Headmaster throughout
the Summer Term.
3. Various Activities
The School has continued its policy of developing social contact
with various other schools, both Special Schools as well as Primary
and Secondary Schools. These contacts have largely been established
through various sporting activities and, more recently, through
camping expeditions based at the camping sites of other schools.
An extension of these activities has been facilitated by the School's
acquisition of a Mini-bus, presented by the Variety Club of Great
Britain (in conjunction with the Golfing Association of the Play Boy
Club).
