Register Office | 1,285 |

Registrar, kindly analysed recent trends and commented "Of the total
number of persons giving notice of intention to marry during the year,6.4%
were minors compared with 19.8% in 1969 and 23.72% in 1968. The dramatic
drop in the number of marriages of minors was brought about by the introduction
on the 1st January, 1970, of the reduction of the age of minority
from 21 years to 18 years under the Family Law Reform Act of 1969.
