CORPORATION DAY NURSERIES
There are now two Day Nurseries in the London Borough of
Croydon, one at Whitehorse Road, West Croydon and the other at
Sanderstead Road, Sanderstead. They are available for children
whose mothers are required to work because they are widows,
unmarried, legally separated or divorced. By prior Committee
permission, children from families with temporary difficulties
illness of the mother or father - may also be accepted.

The minimum charge is 4/- per day. It may be increased according to net income, on a scale approved by the Corporation. Subject to places being available, children may be accepted at the full rate of 21s.7d. per day.

DEAFNESS
Schemes for testing all infants during the first year of
life, whose names were included on the "At Risk" register, were
continued.
Furthermore this assessment of hearing ability was extended
to all infants attending Infant Welfare Centres, and where
staffing permitted, by home visits of Health Visitors.
