MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF CHILDREN FOR
THE CHILDRENS' DEPARTMENT
During the year 257 children were medically examined prior
to admission to a Children's Home or private foster home.
NURSERIES AND CHILD-MINDERS REGULATION ACT, 1948
The registered Minders receive children for the day. They are not encouraged to take children under 2 years.

All child minders are required before registration to show
by a satisfactory X-ray of the chest, that they are free from
pulmonary tuberculosis. Annual re X-rays are also required if
the daily minder is under 30 years of age - over that age
appointments are made every 3 years.
