Inspection of Schools
The kitchens and serveries, washing facilities and sanitary
accommodation are inspected and any defects or amendments requiring
attention are referred to the Chief Education Officer.
During the year 56 inspections were made and defects found
were referred to the Chief Education Officer.
SHOPS ACT
The Shops Act contains provisions for dealing with closing
hours, the hours of work, and health and comfort of those emPloyed.
Closing hours have during the year given little cause
for complaint. The health and comfort of those employed is safeguarded
in the matter of shop ventilation, lighting, warming,
washing facilities, facilities for taking meals and suitable and
sufficient sanitary accommodation, and action has been taken in
the cases where these fell short of requirements. 504 inspections
were made under the Shops Act, and the infringements found
were as follows:-
