CIVIL DEFENCE (Ambulance Section)
The number of Volunteers available for training at 31st
December was 339, composed of 238 females and 101 males. This
figure shows an increase of 48 since my last Annual Report. An
average of 139 volunteers was maintained during each week of
training.
Since the beginning of 1955 about 25% of the volunteers
having received training have asked to be placed on the reserve
list but the number has been made up again by new members.
The number of qualified drivers is now 49, an increase of 7
over 1954. 11 volunteers are under driving instruction, and
2 were successful during the year.
The number of fully qualified First Aiders is now 117 and
a new course will be starting on 31st January, 1956.
An Ambulance Section has been formed at New Addington with
62 volunteers on the register, of which number about 50% are
attending for training under the instruction of Mr. Perkin.
These volunteers will be taking the First Aid Course.
Two teams of 4 Civil Defence personnel entered for the "Buxton
Trophy" Casualties Union held last June at Dorking but were
not successful on this occasion.
