Home Work.
Lists of home workers, or outworkers as they are termed, are
sent in twice yearly, and this year contained the names of 387
workers residing in the Borough. 282 visits were paid to outworkers.

Inspection of Schools.
These are inspected with particular reference to sanitary
accommodation including washing facilities. During the year 73
inspections were made and defects found were referred to the
Education Officer.
SHOPS ACTS
The Shops Acts contain provisions for dealing with
closing hours, the hours of work, and health and comfort of
those employed. Closing hours have during the year given little
cause for complaint. 8 infringements were found in regard
to hours of work of assistants but these were amended forthwith.
The health and comfort of those employed is safeguarded in the
matter of shop ventilation, lighting, warming, washing facilities,
facilities for taking meals and suitable and sufficient sanitary
accommodation, and action has been taken in the cases where
these fell short of requirements. 2,121 inspections were made
under the Shops Acts, and the infringements found were as
follows:—
