At the primary inspections vermin were found in 53 and nits
alone in 749 children. On these inspections 1.1 per cent, of the
children showed evidence of infestation as against 1.5 in 1951.

tuberculosis incident rate per 100,000 was 42.9, and the nonpulmonary
incidence rate 5.7. There were no deaths from
tuberculosis.
