Maternal Mortality.
There were 2 deaths, compared with 5 in 1949. The maternal
mortality rate was 0.53 per 1,000 births, compared with 1.22 in
1949. The deaths were caused by—
(1) Toxic nephritis due to septic incomplete abortion, p.m.
(2) Post-partum haemorrhage due to pathologically adherent
placenta, p.m.
