THE PROVISION OF MEALS AND MILK AND COD LIVER
OIL AND MALT.
During 1948- all milk was supplied free of charge, anil
approximaptely 23,000 children per day received l/3rd pint each.
This was equal to 93 per cent, of the children attending schools.
All the milk supplied is pasteurised milk, and the sources
of supply are subject to the approval and constant supervision
of the Medical Officer of Health.
The number of meals supplied daily rose from over 16,000 at
the beginning of 1948 to 17,000 at the end of 1948.
Malt and Oil is given free on the recommendation of the
School Medical Officer, and the following issues were made
