MEDICAL INSPECTION IN SCHOOLS.
A total of 8,511 children were examined as compared with
5,758 in 1947, and 5,720 parents attended the examinations. The
percentage attendance of parents in the Entrants' group was for
boys 86.3 per cent.; and girls 88.6 per cent.; in the Intermediate
group, boys 53.0 per cent.; girls 66.5 per cent.; and in the
Leavers' group, boys 22.1 per cent.; girls 44.0 per cent.
The total percentage of parents attending was 67.2 as against
69.2 last year.
637 specials and 470 re-inspections of children were carried
out.
