Comments on the Incidence and Prevalence of Infectious Disease.
Scarlet Fever cases showed an increase on 1946.
The incidence rate of Diphtheria was 0.10, compared with
0.15 in 1946.
No cases of Small Pox occurred during the year.
There were 39 cases of Puerperal Pyrexia; 10 occurred in the
15-24 age group, and 29 in the age group 25-44 years.
BOROUGH HOSPITAL.
Table A gives a summary of all cases treated at the Hospital
during 1947.
895 patients were admitted during 1947 which, together with
87 patients in hospital at the commencement of that year, makes a
total of 962 patients dealt with.
Included in the tables are 32 cases admitted from Penge
Urban District.
Twenty-two deaths occurred, giving a case mortality of 2.29 per
cent.

All Gastro-enteritis deaths and five of the six whooping cough deaths were in infants under one year of age, who thus contribute 15 of the total of 22 deaths.
