Maternal Mortality (Obstetric Service).
Seven deaths occurred of mothers dealt with by the Service,
one f in a "Booked" case and 6 emergencies.*
The maternal mortality of "Booked" cases, i.e., cases under
the continued supervision of the Service, is 0.65 per 1,000
hospital deliveries, and 0.39 per 1,000 total deliveries, including
the Municipal Midwives " Booked " cases.
Puerperal Infection,
Thirty-sdx cases were treaited in isolation for puerperal
infection, 7 of them in the Borough Hospital and 29 in Mayday
Hospital. There was no death.
